Uzbekistan’s GDP to increase by 7.8% in 2010 – EBRD

Growth of the gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan will make up 7.8% in 2010, a statement of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said on 21 January 2010. In October 2009, the EBRD forecasted that the economy of Uzbekistan rose by 7% in 2010.
In line with the EBRD forecasts, Uzbekistan’s GDP will grow by 7% in 2011, which is the fourth figure in the EBRD member states. The bank said Turkmenistan will record 13% GDP growth in 2011 and Azerbaijan – 8%.
As earlier reported, the Government of Uzbekistan expected that the country’s economy will increase by 8.3% in 2010.
Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) forecasted that economy of Uzbekistan will grow by 8.1% in 2010, which will be one of the highest growths in the world.
At the same time, the World Bank’s forecast said that Uzbekistan’s GDP will rise by 6.5% in 2010 and 2011.
