Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Central Bank of Uzbekistan imposed penalties on eight banks in September for failing to comply with prudential requirements, violating legislation and breaches identified during inspections, the regulator’s press service reported.
During the month, the Central Bank’s Banking Supervision Committee held eight meetings and considered 37 matters.
Of these, 21 concerned registration and licensing procedures.
In particular, the committee reviewed amendments to the charters of credit institutions, the registration of microfinance organisations, the licensing of seven payment organisations, the issuance of permits to acquire stakes in the charter capital of credit institutions, and the approval of candidates for senior and key positions at banks.
The remaining 16 matters concerned the financial condition of credit and payment organisations.
The committee reviewed compliance with the regulator’s directives and prudential requirements, the findings of inspections of banking and non-bank credit institutions, and the testing of financial services within the regulatory sandbox.
