Uzbekistan’s banks emit over 7.033 million payment cards

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Commercial banks of Uzbekistan are continuing to develop cashless payment system with use of banking payment cards.

The country’s bank increased number of issued banking payment cards from 5.072 million units at the end of the first half of 2010 to 7.033 million units at the same period of 2010. The growth made up 38.7%.

The banks also installed 61,011 POS-terminals as of 1 July 2010 against 36,653 POS-terminals as of 1 July 2009, which is up by 66.5%.

The volume of cashless payments with use of the banking payment cards in the reporting period rose 2.7 times.
