Uzbekistan Upgrades Surkhandarya Roads with ADB Support
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Large-scale road reconstruction projects are being implemented in Uzbekistan’s Surkhandarya region with financial support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The works are being carried out in phases as part of efforts to modernize regional transport infrastructure.
The project covers sections of the 4R105 “Darband – Baysun – Elbayon” and 4R100 “Manguzar – Jarkurgan – Bandikhan – Altynsay – Denau” highways. The total length of the reconstructed roads is 111 kilometers.
The project envisions the construction of a cement-concrete highway passing through Baysun, Bandikhan, Kumkurgan, Altynsay, and Denau districts.
Upon completion of the Darband–Denau highway, a shorter connection between the M41 and M39 international routes in Surkhandarya will be established, reducing travel distance to Tashkent by 146 kilometers.
The initiative is aimed at improving transport infrastructure, enhancing road safety, facilitating movement for local residents, and stimulating regional economic activity.
