Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the country's railway transport workers on their professional holiday on 31 July 2026, noting the sector's contribution to strengthening the economy and developing the national transport and communication system.

In his address, the president recalled that more than 2,400 kilometers of new railways have been built and commissioned in recent years, over 3,000 kilometers have been electrified, and more than 1,100 kilometers of tracks have been rehabilitated.

As part of major investment projects, lines were laid along the Samarkand–Urgut, Baytkorgan–Parkent, and Urgench International Airport–Khiva routes. In addition, a second electrified line was launched on the Navoiy–Bukhara section, while construction work continues on several other routes.

Mirziyoyev also noted the increased efficiency of the national logistics system due to the electrification of the Samarkand–Navoiy, Bukhara–Urgench–Khiva, Miskin–Nukus, and Kumkurgan–Kudukli routes, as well as the expansion of railway station capacity.

According to the president, the construction of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway, which will link the country with global transport corridors, as well as ongoing cooperation with Afghanistan in developing railway infrastructure, contributes to strengthening Uzbekistan's position as a regional transport and transit hub.

To improve transport services along the Tashkent–Khiva–Tashkent route, a new high-speed electric train, "Jaloliddin Manguberdi," developed by the South Korean company Hyundai Rotem, was launched.

Work has also been carried out to update the appearance of railway stations along with their engineering and service infrastructure, expanding opportunities for entrepreneurship at sector facilities. The president noted that special attention is being paid to the introduction of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in the railway sector.

Mirziyoyev stated that in the coming years, plans include purchasing hundreds of modern passenger carriages and high-tech trains, as well as further expanding railway infrastructure and improving passenger service quality.
