Uzbekistan Updates Rules for Multi-Storey Apartments
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Ministry of Justice has registered amendments to the Rules for the Maintenance and Operation of Multi-Storey Apartment Buildings. The new standards will take effect in three months, updating requirements for stairwell cleaning, split-system installation and elevator operation.
Under the changes, property management bodies will no longer be required to wash stairwells, stairs and walls on a monthly basis. However, mandatory cleaning of entrances and stairwells must be conducted once a week.
Specific updates apply to heating and cooling equipment. Installing split systems in entrance hallways will be prohibited. Placing such equipment inside balconies or loggias remains permitted, provided it does not alter the building's exterior appearance.
The updated rules also introduce additional safety obligations for elevators. Building management bodies must ensure the smooth and safe operation of elevators throughout their service life, accompanied by dispatch control monitoring.
Elevator cabins must feature light and sound alarms for contacting operators via two-way voice communication. In addition, visual signals must indicate the opening and closing of shaft doors as well as machine or pulley rooms.
Information requirements inside elevator cabins have also been updated. Each elevator must display a plate stating its load capacity, maximum passenger capacity, registration number on the "Safe Elevator" electronic platform, details of periodic technical inspections, and contact numbers for servicing or emergency services.
