Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan plans to provide one-time financial assistance of 1 million soums to each of 1.017 million low-income families in November 2026.
The measure is intended to help households cope with higher heating and energy costs during the winter.
At the same time, the authorities plan to broaden eligibility criteria for state assistance for families using centralised heating systems.
The income threshold for receiving support is expected to be set at up to three minimum wages in Tashkent and up to two minimum wages in other regions of the country.
Compensation for electricity and natural gas costs is also expected to be extended until 1 April 2028.
For residents of areas without gas infrastructure or where connecting to gas networks is difficult, the basic electricity consumption allowance for the heating season is to be increased from 200 to 350 kWh.
Additional measures will focus on improving the energy efficiency of residential buildings. In 2027–2028, living conditions are expected to be improved for a further 3,000 low-income families.
The work will include home insulation, the introduction of energy-saving technologies and the use of renewable energy sources.
The package of measures is aimed at reducing energy costs for low-income households, improving residential energy efficiency and expanding targeted social support.
