Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have agreed to accelerate the implementation of joint projects in cotton production, grain production and other areas of agriculture.

The agreement was reached during a visit to Tajikistan by J. Abduzukhurov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, who took part in the Food Industry Forum and the UPAK EXPO–2026 international exhibition.

At the opening ceremony of the forum and its plenary session, Abduzukhurov presented information on Uzbekistan’s efforts to develop agricultural processing, agrologistics and modern packaging infrastructure. He also spoke about attracting investment to the sector.

Participants in the discussions considered the processing and export of agricultural products, food security and the development of international cooperation.

During the visit, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Agriculture Minister met with Bakhromjon Rajab Ahmadzoda, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Tajikistan. The sides discussed the current status of projects being implemented by the two countries in cotton production, grain production and other areas of the agricultural sector.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to accelerate the implementation of existing projects, coordinate their execution and strengthen direct working contacts between responsible organizations in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

Abduzukhurov also visited the UPAK EXPO–2026 international exhibition. Uzbek companies CITRIC.UZ, EUROSNAB, PLAST TECH SOLUTION (FOOD PACK), ASIA PACK and STAR CUP took part in the event and presented their products.

The visit was aimed at expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in agriculture, the food industry, agricultural processing and exports through the implementation of practical projects.
