Uzbekistan seizes nearly 9 kg of hashish in Tracker vehicle

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of efforts to combat the illegal circulation of narcotic drugs, officers of the Border Troops of the State Security Service, together with law enforcement agencies in the Tashkent region, conducted an operational raid.

A Chevrolet Tracker vehicle traveling on the Tashkent–Ferghana route was stopped at a road patrol checkpoint.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found 1.72 grams of a narcotic substance, allegedly intended for personal use, in the possession of the driver, a resident of Ferghana born in 1990 with a prior conviction for robbery.

A further inspection of the vehicle led to the discovery of 8 kg 913 g of a substance identified as hashish in the trunk.

According to preliminary investigation data, the suspect had received the narcotics previously smuggled into the Tashkent region and was transporting them to his place of residence.

A criminal case has been opened, and investigative actions are ongoing.
