Uzbekistan Restricts Poultry Imports From Polskamp B.V.

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has temporarily restricted imports of all types of poultry products from Dutch company Polskamp B.V. as part of measures to ensure food safety and protect public health, according to Committee for Food Safety of Uzbekistan.

The restriction was introduced based on official information from the European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF), published on 30 July 2026.

According to RASFF data, poultry products produced by Polskamp B.V. were found to contain the pathogenic microorganism Salmonella Typhimurium, which poses a health risk to people and animals.

Veterinary controls at checkpoints along Uzbekistan’s state border will therefore be strengthened. The measure is intended to prevent potentially Salmonella-contaminated products from entering the Uzbek market.

Salmonella Typhimurium is classified as a Group 2 infectious agent and causes non-typhoidal salmonellosis. The disease can be accompanied by diarrhea and fever and, in severe cases, can lead to sepsis.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) also classifies Salmonella as a pathogen posing a serious zoonotic threat to public health. The organization stresses the need for continuous monitoring of the spread of such infections.

The temporary restriction on imports of Polskamp B.V. products will remain in place until the safety of the company’s products is confirmed in accordance with established procedures.

Importing businesses have been urged to strictly comply with existing veterinary and food safety requirements.
