Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan Strengthen Social Protection Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to strengthen cooperation in social protection and develop practical ties between relevant institutions in the two countries.

The National Agency for Social Protection held a meeting between its director, Mansurbek Olloyarov, and Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan Yerali Tugzhanov. The sides discussed current areas of cooperation, experience sharing and opportunities to expand joint work.

Uzbek representatives presented Kazakhstan with approaches to developing a family-oriented social protection model. The discussion focused in particular on supporting individuals while maintaining their ties with their families and communities, as well as the role of mahallas in organizing social support.

The sides also paid particular attention to exchanging experience in assisting people with disabilities and other groups in need of social protection.

The participants considered holding meetings between relevant experts and organizing reciprocal visits to facilitate closer exchanges of practices and experience.

Following the talks, the sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in social protection and move their partnership toward a more systematic framework.
