Uzbekistan Reports Stable Condition of 20 Hospitalised Kazakhs

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Health Ministry has provided an update on the condition of 20 Kazakh citizens hospitalised in Tashkent with symptoms of acute diarrhoea. Two patients have been discharged, while the remaining 18 are in stable and satisfactory condition, the ministry said.

According to the Health Ministry’s press service, some of the children who arrived from Kazakhstan and their accompanying adults began experiencing symptoms on 1 November after breakfast at a hotel in the capital. The menu included eggs and sausages, which preliminary information suggests may not have been cooked thoroughly.

Thirteen people developed vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and fever that day. They were taken to the Republican Specialised Scientific and Practical Medical Centre for Epidemiology, Microbiology, Infectious and Parasitic Diseases. After receiving initial medical assistance, they were transferred to City Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital No. 5.

A further seven people with similar symptoms were admitted to the hospital on 2–3 November.

Following medical examinations, all 20 patients were provisionally diagnosed with acute diarrhoea. Treatment has been prescribed in accordance with established medical standards.

The Health Ministry stressed that none of the patients is in intensive care. All those hospitalised remain under medical supervision.

Meanwhile, the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health has collected samples of leftover food consumed by the group. Laboratory tests are ongoing, and the final results of the investigation will be announced separately.
