Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Production of cotton-fiber in Uzbekistan rose by 4.5% year-on-year in January-September 2010 to 726,300 tonnes, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

The committee said that Uzbekistan manufactured 143,500 tonnes of cotton yarn in the reporting period, which is up by 37.1% year-on-year.

Volume of knitwork output in Uzbekistan grew by 56.2% year-on-year in January-September 2010 to 37.5 million units.

In the reporting period, enterprises of the country also produced 15,353 tonnes of stockinet (85.7%) and 64.9 million square meters of cotton fabrics (+8.7%) in nine months of 2010.

Uzbekistan produced 120,000 pairs of hosiery in nine months of 2010, which is up 2.3 times compared to the same period of 2009.
