Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Andijan will host the Yashil uyim environmental festival for the first time. The event, financially supported by the European Union, will take place on 26 September from 12:00 to 19:00 at the Berlin Zentrum complex, 193 Chulpon Street, the organisers said.
The festival aims to promote an environmentally friendly lifestyle, waste sorting and recycling, responsible use of resources, as well as modern scientific and environmental solutions.
The programme for adults and young people will include open lectures by experts, workshops, discussions, a fair of environmentally friendly products and scientific developments, prize games, a DJ programme and live music.
Lecture topics will include sustainable lifestyles and the circular economy, cancer genomics, waste sorting and sign language. A youth discussion titled “Ecology or Economy?” will also be held, along with a screening of the animated film “WALL•E” in Uzbek.
A separate programme will be organised for children. It will include a practical mathematics session, science experiments, presentations of the books “Fikrlab” and “My Eco-Bag”, as well as a robotics class.
An environmental products and initiatives fair will operate throughout the festival. Visitors will be able to learn about scientific developments and local environmental projects. Special collection points will accept batteries, used cooking oil, paper, cellophane and aluminium.
At the SWAP area, guests will be able to exchange books, plants and various other items. Participants will also have the opportunity to play chess.
The organisers said the festival is intended to create an open platform for promoting practical environmental solutions, fostering responsible attitudes towards the environment and developing useful everyday habits.
Admission to the festival is free.
