Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Municipal services in Tashkent have begun washing tree canopies with water to remove accumulated dust and provide additional moisture to urban areas amid below-average rainfall in autumn 2026.

According to publicly available meteorological sources, the capital received 11 millimetres of precipitation from the beginning of October, compared with a monthly average of 24 millimetres. September was also marked by exceptionally dry conditions, according to UzHydromet.

Specialised equipment is being used to spray water onto tree canopies. The process helps wash dust from leaves and moisten certain parts of the urban environment.

These measures do not replace natural rainfall or fully resolve the problem of dust pollution. However, they help maintain urban greenery and improve environmental conditions during dry weather.

The work is aimed at preserving trees and creating more comfortable conditions for residents of the capital.
