Uzbekistan produces 584,100 tonnes of steel in January-October

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan’s steel producer, Uzmetkombinat, produced in January-October 584,100 tonnes of steel, an increase of 3.4% compared with January-October 2007, Dow Jones reported quoting state statistics committee said.

Steel roll output by Uzmetkombinat in January-October increased by 3.6% on the year to 556,200 tonnes, the report said.

In 2007, the smelter produced 645,300 tonnes of steel, 4.6% more than in 2006, and 619,500 tonnes of steel roll, an increase of 5.8% on the year.

The steel smelter is investing US$11.1 million this year and intends to increase steel output by 3.8% on the year to 670,000 tonnes and increase steel roll output by 3.3% to 640,000 tonnes.
