Uzbekistan Opens Over 8.6 Thousand Drug Cases in First Half of Year

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Law enforcement authorities in Uzbekistan initiated 8,653 criminal cases related to illicit drug trafficking between January and June 2026, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.

According to the ministry, law enforcement officers seized 2 tonnes and 733 kilograms of narcotic substances from criminal groups and individuals during the six-month period. Synthetic drugs accounted for more than 52 kilograms of the total volume seized.

In addition, law enforcement officers seized 2.651 million units of potent medical drugs during the operations.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs provided no further details regarding the results of the investigations or the individuals involved in the criminal cases.
