Belarus-Uzbekistan Friendship Alley inaugurated in Minsk

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A ceremonial inauguration of the Belarus–Uzbekistan Friendship Alley took place on Tashkentskaya Street in Minsk, coinciding with the official state visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Belarus.

The commemorative environmental event was led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Maxim Ryzhenkov. Alongside the Ambassadors of both nations, the foreign ministers jointly planted rowan tree saplings and unveiled a dedicated monument plaque in the Park of the 900th Anniversary of Minsk.

Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov emphasized that the green space serves as a living emblem of the everlasting friendship, mutual respect, profound institutional trust, and evolving strategic partnership defining modern relations between Tashkent and Minsk. He noted that the alley stands as a physical testament to the robust human and cultural connections linking the two societies.

The location carries deep historical resonance; Tashkentskaya Street was originally mapped in 1067 to honor the deep post-war ties between the nations, including the thousands of Uzbek soldiers who fought to liberate Belarus during World War II, and the subsequent assistance rendered by Belarusian workers to rebuild Tashkent following the devastating 1966 earthquake.

The ceremonial tree planting follows the conclusion of a major business forum and regional council sessions in Minsk, signaling an intensification of economic and geopolitical collaboration between the two countries.
