Uzbekistan, Iran Discuss Development of Bilateral Relations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's First Deputy Foreign Minister Bahromjon Aloev met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran on 17 August 2026 to discuss the development of bilateral relations and key regional and international issues, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.

During the meeting, the two officials focused on strengthening political dialogue, expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation, and developing transport, transit, cultural and humanitarian ties.

The sides also reviewed ways to further improve intergovernmental cooperation mechanisms, with specific attention given to intensifying contacts between the business communities of Uzbekistan and Iran.

In addition, representatives of the two countries exchanged views on current regional and international matters of mutual interest.
