Uzbekistan launches nationwide pediatric audiology screening

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has launched nationwide audiological diagnostic screening of students in specialized boarding schools for children with hearing impairments, the Health Ministry’s press service said.

The measures are being carried out under the “I Want to Hear!” project. Students of Specialized Boarding School No. 102 are the first to undergo examinations.

According to the ministry, audiologists from the Pediatric Center are conducting comprehensive assessments of children using various hearing correction devices and with different levels of hearing and speech development.

Based on the collected data, a system of dynamic monitoring is being developed to track changes in students’ hearing and speech conditions and to promptly adjust their development and educational processes.

A separate component of the project includes a practical seminar for administrators, correctional educators and psychologists working in specialized boarding schools. The training covers modern pedagogical technologies, inclusive education methods, and adaptation of teaching materials to specialized learning environments based on international experience.

The ministry said the measures are aimed at preparing children with hearing impairments for independent living and improving the effectiveness of educational programs.
