Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Law enforcement agencies in Uzbekistan have uncovered three cases of illegal drug trafficking in Tashkent and Ferghana Region, seizing several batches of hashish oil and hashish.

Criminal cases have been opened in all three incidents, the State Security Service (SSS) said.

In Tashkent, officers from the SSS city department, working with the Main Department of Internal Affairs, stopped a resident of the Yunusabad district born in 1993 for a check. The man had previously been under law enforcement surveillance.

During a search conducted in the presence of witnesses, officers found three small containers holding 257g of hashish oil. Subsequent operational measures at his residence led to the seizure of another 2.831kg of the substance and electronic scales. According to investigators, the man worked for an online drug shop.

The other two cases were uncovered in Ferghana Region, where the regional SSS department worked jointly with customs and internal affairs authorities.

In Ferghana district, a local resident born in 1988 was detained while allegedly attempting to sell 982g of hashish to a prospective buyer for US$10,700. Preliminary information indicates that the drugs had been smuggled from a neighbouring country.

In a separate incident in the city of Ferghana, a man born in 1997 was detained after collecting 956g of hashish from a stash in Ferghana district. According to law enforcement agencies, the drugs had previously been smuggled from a neighbouring country and left at the location. The man was detained while travelling home.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated in all three cases, and investigations are ongoing.
