Uzbekistan, Latvia Discuss Expanding Economic Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, met Latvia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan, Girts Jaunzems, to discuss the further development of bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation.
The talks focused on implementing agreements reached at the ninth meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission. The discussions covered the establishment of the Uzbekistan-Latvia Business Council, the opening of a trade house in Tashkent, and the results of the Made in Uzbekistan exhibition held in Riga with the participation of around 70 Uzbek companies.
The sides also reviewed prospects for cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry, the agro-industrial sector, fertilizer production, packaging manufacturing and the fish processing industry.
Transport and logistics cooperation was another key topic of the meeting. The parties discussed opportunities to expand cargo transportation through the ports of Riga and Ventspils, increase air connectivity and involve Latvian companies in the implementation of new investment projects in Uzbekistan.
At the conclusion of the talks, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the agreed initiatives and strengthening bilateral economic partnership.
