Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Ismoilov held a meeting with Yeraly Tugzhanov, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan.
The sides discussed the current state of interparliamentary cooperation and prospects for its further expansion, the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan said.
During the meeting, it was noted that in recent years, thanks to the political will of the two countries’ leaders and consistent efforts to develop mutually beneficial cooperation, the strategic partnership and multifaceted ties between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have reached a qualitatively new level.
Particular attention was paid to the Declaration on Allied Relations and the Treaty on Allied Relations, which are viewed as an important legal foundation for the further development of relations between the two countries and the strengthening of multifaceted cooperation.
Development of Parliamentary Diplomacy
Yeraly Tugzhanov expressed gratitude for the warm reception and highly praised the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. According to him, in recent years the country has been becoming one of the important centers for holding international meetings, developing interparliamentary cooperation and advancing political dialogue.
The ambassador also noted the dynamic development of interparliamentary ties between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. According to him, the attention paid by the countries’ leaders to this area is helping elevate cooperation between the legislative bodies to a new level. Regular parliamentary dialogue, the exchange of experience and joint initiatives play an important role in strengthening bilateral relations.
The Interparliamentary Council for Cooperation between the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan plays an important role in this process, the meeting noted.
The sides also emphasized the importance of making more effective use of the opportunities offered by parliamentary diplomacy, exchanging experience in lawmaking and further intensifying interparliamentary ties. The meeting was held in an open and friendly atmosphere.
