Uzbekistan harvests over six million tonnes of grain

"Unprecedentedly severe winter, draught, hail, mudslides and pests were a serious challenge to farmers," Uzbek President Islam Karimov said.

Grain crops were sown over 1.28 million hectares, including 1.08 million hectares of irrigated land, the Agriculture and Water Resources Ministry said. Last year Uzbekistan harvested 6.25 million tonnes of grain.
