Uzbekistan Extends Import Privileges for Cargo Trucks
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed Decree No. PP-251, providing new privileges for the import of cargo road transport, the Customs Committee announced.
According to the document, customs duties and the utilization fee will not be collected until the end of 2027 on the import of cargo trucks that meet Euro-5 environmental standards and higher. The exemption also applies to semi-trailers with a volume of at least 76 cubic meters, a maximum mass of 15 tons or more, or both.
The privileges apply to vehicles manufactured no more than five years prior to their import into Uzbekistan.
The decree also stipulates that if a vehicle imported using these privileges is re-exported within three years, the owner is required to pay the full amount of customs duties and the utilization fee.
A similar requirement applies if the HS code of the vehicle changes after modification, unless the modification was conducted to convert the vehicle to an alternative fuel type.
In addition, cargo trucks and semi-trailers that comply with European Union standards are temporarily exempt from the mandatory requirement to obtain a certificate of conformity upon import. A separate government resolution is expected to be adopted to implement this norm.
As noted, the president previously announced intentions in February 2025 to extend privileges on customs duties and utilization fees for importing cargo trucks with an environmental class of no less than Euro-5.
According to information provided in the source, this measure aims to increase the market share of domestic companies in the international cargo transport market.
