Uzbekistan Expands State Support for Livestock Farming

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has approved additional measures to develop the livestock sector, providing subsidies for purchasing breeding stock, establishing a specialized service company, and creating the Livestock Breeders Association ("Chorvachilar"). This was reported by the press service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

From 1 September 2026 to 1 January 2030, the Agency for Payments in the Agricultural Sector will grant subsidies to breeding farms for purchasing thoroughbred cows and buffaloes. The payment will amount to 1.5 million soums for the first acquired animal and 2 million soums for the second.

Additional subsidies of 1 million soums will also be provided for maintaining purchased animals during the first year after purchase, as well as during the subsequent six months.

A specialized service company will be established under the Agency for Livestock Development to implement livestock projects abroad and supply imported cattle and small ruminants to the population.

Its functions will also include organizing import quarantine points and primary inspection zones for imported animals, as well as providing veterinary, zootechnical, and breeding services, including artificial insemination, for at least one year after the animals are imported.

The Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, together with regional authorities, will forward proposals from residents of mahallas specializing in livestock farming to the Agency for Livestock Development twice a year — by 1 February and 1 July, and by 1 September in 2026. The supply of livestock will be organized based on these applications.

To implement the program, the Agency for Livestock Development will receive up to 60 billion soums from the State Target Fund for Poverty Reduction and an additional 10 billion soums from the Food Safety Development Fund.

The decree also provides for the establishment of the Livestock Breeders Association ("Chorvachilar"). Through the end of 2028, the organization will receive up to 5 billion soums annually to support its operations and cover employee salaries.
