Uzbekistan embassy monitors situation after floods in Nepal

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Embassy of Uzbekistan in New Delhi, which also covers Nepal, said it had no information about Uzbek citizens among those killed or affected by floods in the country. The statement was reported by Dunyo.

The diplomatic mission is maintaining regular contact with relevant authorities and continues to monitor developments related to the aftermath of the natural disaster.

According to Reuters, nearly 1,500 people are reported missing following floods in Nepal and Tibet, including more than 700 foreigners.

In Nepal, 826 people are reported missing, including around 500 foreigners. They include 177 Indian citizens, 63 US citizens, 34 Australian citizens, 33 British citizens and 25 Canadian citizens. In Tibet’s Gyirong County, 558 people are reported missing, including 260 foreigners.

The floods have killed 332 people in Nepal, while three people have died in China. More than 5,000 military personnel and police officers are involved in search and rescue operations.

The Uzbek diplomatic mission continues to monitor the situation and coordinate with relevant authorities as new information becomes available.
