Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Belarus and Uzbekistan plan to expand cooperation between their judicial authorities, including professional contacts, exchanges of experience and preparations for a meeting of supreme court leaders of CIS member states, Belarus’ Supreme Court said.

The issues were discussed by Belarusian Supreme Court Chairman Andrei Shved and Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Belarus Nuriddin Mamazhonov. The sides also discussed preparations for a meeting of the Council of Chairmen of the Supreme (Higher) Courts of CIS Member States, scheduled to take place in Minsk in October.

During the meeting, the sides discussed developing professional contacts between the judicial authorities of Belarus and Uzbekistan and exchanging experience in judicial practice.

Shved said cooperation between the judicial authorities is an important part of relations between the two countries. He noted that the October meeting of the CIS Council of Chairmen of Supreme (Higher) Courts will be held in Minsk for the first time under the chairmanship of Belarus’ Supreme Court.

The Belarusian Supreme Court chairman stressed the importance of Uzbekistan’s Supreme Court participating in the Council’s work. He said the upcoming meeting would provide an opportunity to discuss current issues related to judicial activity.

Belarus is also interested in further expanding professional cooperation with Uzbek counterparts. Areas identified by Shved include exchanging experience in improving judicial practice, increasing the efficiency of justice, digitalizing court proceedings and training judges.

Mamazhonov confirmed Uzbekistan’s interest in further developing cooperation with Belarusian judicial colleagues. He noted the value of continued interaction through international judicial and legal platforms, including joint events, professional meetings and exchanges of delegations.

Following the meeting, the sides emphasized the importance of maintaining direct professional contacts and further developing cooperation between the judicial authorities of Belarus and Uzbekistan.
