Uzbekistan Construction Sector Grows 14.5% in January–May 2026

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The volume of construction work in Uzbekistan during January–May 2026 reached 104,943.7 billion soums in current prices, representing a 14.5% increase compared to the same period last year. The figures were released by the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Among the regions, the highest growth rates were recorded in the Republic of Karakalpakstan at 151.3%, the Khorezm region at 132.4%, and the Bukhara region at 126.2%. The largest absolute volume of construction work was concentrated in Tashkent at 28,025.2 billion soums, followed by the Tashkent region at 10,704.9 billion soums, and the Ferghana region at 6,874.8 billion soums.

By type of activity, the construction of buildings and structures accounted for the major share at 70.4%, with a growth rate of 116.9%. Civil engineering construction accounted for 20.1% of the total volume, growing by 14.0%. The share of specialized construction work stood at 9.5%, with its volume remaining virtually unchanged compared to the previous year at 99.9%.

By category of enterprise, small businesses and micro-firms led the sector, accounting for 48.5% of the total volume of construction work at 50,847.5 billion soums, reflecting a growth rate of 111.0%. Large construction organizations contributed 26.1% of the total volume at 27,399.8 billion soums, growing by 21.5%. The informal sector accounted for 25.4% at 26,696.4 billion soums, representing a 14.6% increase.

Among the large construction organizations, the highest volumes of work were executed in Tashkent at 9.6 trillion soums, the Tashkent region at 2.9 trillion soums, and the Republic of Karakalpakstan at 1.9 trillion soums.

By form of ownership, the construction industry remains predominantly private, with the non-state sector accounting for 97.9% of the total volume of work, while the state sector accounts for only 2.1%.
