Uzbekistan to Upgrade Car Rental System for Tourists

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Work continues in Uzbekistan to improve the car rental system as one of the key elements of modern tourism infrastructure. During an open dialogue chaired by the head of the Committee for Tourism, Abdulaziz Akkulov, representatives of relevant ministries, government agencies, insurance companies, and businesses discussed a complex of measures aimed at increasing the quality and accessibility of carsharing and car rental services for tourists.

Representatives of the Ministry of Digital Technologies, the Customs Committee, the insurance sector, and companies specializing in providing rental cars took part in the discussion. The main focus was on removing existing administrative and technological barriers, as well as introducing modern digital solutions.

The meeting participants reviewed a number of initiatives capable of increasing the convenience and safety of transport services for tourists.

In particular, it is proposed to improve the system for tracking fines and administrative offenses related to the operation of rented vehicles, as well as to expand digital data exchange between government bodies to accelerate information processing.

One of the important directions will be the introduction of electronic processing of powers of attorney granting foreign citizens the right to drive vehicles within Uzbekistan. This measure will significantly simplify the car rental procedure for foreign tourists and reduce the volume of paper paperwork.

Special attention was paid to the development of infrastructure for electric transport. In particular, the integration of international payment systems into the network of charging stations was discussed, which will make the use of electric vehicles more convenient for foreign travelers.

In addition, it is proposed to develop specialized insurance products for car rental companies, expand fleets with modern eco-friendly vehicles, and introduce preferential financing mechanisms for market participants.

Another initiative was the creation of specialized parking lots and service zones for motorhomes in popular tourist locations. This will allow the development of new travel formats and increase the country's attractiveness for auto-tourists.

As the meeting participants noted, the implementation of the proposed measures will contribute to the development of independent tourism, increase the level of transport service, and strengthen the competitiveness of Uzbekistan in the international tourism market.

The Committee for Tourism continues systematic work on forming a modern, safe, and comfortable transport infrastructure, expanding cooperation with government agencies and the private sector.

The development of the car rental market is considered one of the promising directions for improving the quality of tourism services and creating favorable conditions for both foreign guests and domestic travelers.
