Uzbekistan, China Launch Joint Maize Cultivation Program
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and China have launched a specialized training initiative aimed at introducing practical maize cultivation techniques and developing skilled agricultural professionals, according to the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan.
The opening ceremony for the program, titled "Practical Technologies for Maize Cultivation in Uzbekistan and a Qualified Personnel Training Program for the Agricultural Sector," took place at Tashkent State Agrarian University with a visiting delegation from China's Xinjiang Agricultural University. Representatives from the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction alongside 40 Uzbek farmers attended the event to discuss boosting workforce capacity, adopting modern technologies, and expanding bilateral agricultural ties.
Participating farmers will undertake both theoretical and practical training focused on maize production. The curriculum incorporates modern agrotechnologies, including water-saving irrigation methods, soil fertility enhancement, and agricultural mechanization.
The 40 trained farmers are expected to implement their newly acquired technical knowledge and practical methods across their respective regions. Officials noted that the initiative aims to enhance the professional skills of domestic farming experts while strengthening knowledge sharing between Uzbekistan and China in the agricultural domain.
