Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan Agree to Create Logistics Joint Venture

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A delegation from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport visited Kazakhstan on 10-11 August to study cross-border transport and logistics infrastructure and discuss expanding freight transportation between the two countries. At the Kedentransservice JSC terminal at Altynkol station, the sides also agreed to establish a joint venture.

During the visit, the Uzbek delegation reviewed the organization of rail and multimodal freight transportation and studied Kazakhstan’s experience in developing transport and logistics infrastructure.

In particular, representatives of the Ministry of Transport visited Altynkol railway station on the Kazakhstan-China border, the Kedentransservice JSC terminal, the KTZE-Khorgos Gateway dry port, the Khorgos-Eastern Gate Special Economic Zone and the Khorgos International Centre for Boundary Cooperation.

The talks focused on ensuring the uninterrupted movement of cargo along the China-Kazakhstan-Central Asia route. The sides also discussed expanding container transportation, developing multimodal transport corridors and diversifying logistics routes.

A separate outcome of the visit was an agreement with the Kazakh side to establish a joint venture at the Kedentransservice JSC terminal at Altynkol station.

The participants also discussed prospects for further developing transport and logistics cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
