Uzbekistan Calls for Stronger Youth Role in Peace

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has emphasized the importance of expanding the role of youth in ensuring sustainable peace and social justice during the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held under the theme “Strengthening Trust, Ensuring Sustainable Peace and Justice for Future Generations.”

During the general debates, the Uzbek delegation highlighted that in the context of global transformations, young people represent not only a social group but also a strategic resource shaping the future development of societies.

In her address, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva stressed that youth policy remains one of the key priorities of state policy in Uzbekistan.

It was noted that, as a result of consistent reforms under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, more than 100 legislative and regulatory acts have been adopted in recent years to support young people, alongside more than 200 mechanisms of benefits and opportunities aimed at their development.

Special attention was given to the implementation of the state program “On the Path to a Sustainable Future” for the current year, which includes measures in education, science, information technology and innovation, youth employment, entrepreneurship, culture, arts, sports, and environmental education.

It was emphasized that the Uzbekistan-2030 Development Strategy fully aligns with these priorities and provides practical instruments to support the interests of the younger generation. The state program is seen as a key mechanism for implementing these strategic goals.

At the same time, the importance of strengthening international cooperation was underlined in light of growing global interdependence.

The Uzbek side noted that youth represent both a national and global resource with significant potential to shape the future. In this context, expanding platforms for dialogue, experience-sharing, and international cooperation was identified as a priority.

Following the address, Uzbekistan put forward an initiative to strengthen international partnerships, expand dialogue, and promote the exchange of best practices, including in the field of youth parliamentary development.
