Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and China's Xinjiang region have discussed expanding cooperation in livestock farming and meat processing, as well as preparations for a business mission by Uzbek entrepreneurs to Xinjiang.
The discussions took place at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan during a meeting with a delegation from the Xinjiang Sub-Council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).
Participants included Sherzod Ibragimov, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan; Jamil Maksudi, an adviser to the chamber's chairman; and Liu Tian, Deputy Chairman of the Xinjiang Sub-Council of CCPIT.
At the beginning of the meeting, Liu Tian thanked the Uzbek side for its longstanding cooperation and support. With assistance from Uzbekistan's Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Xinjiang Sub-Council of CCPIT has organised 15 trade and economic events in Uzbekistan in recent years.
The main focus of the talks was the planned visit by Uzbek business representatives to Xinjiang.
Around 150 entrepreneurs from 15 sectors are expected to participate in the business mission. Priority areas include livestock farming, cattle breeding, poultry farming and meat processing.
The participants emphasised the importance of introducing Uzbek entrepreneurs to Chinese technologies in cattle farming.
Among the proposed measures was increasing the number of visits to livestock farms and meat-processing enterprises to help Uzbek businesses examine production processes and identify opportunities for practical cooperation.
Following the meeting, the CCPIT delegation invited the leadership of Uzbekistan's Chamber of Commerce and Industry to attend a forum of chambers of commerce and industry from neighbouring countries, scheduled to take place in Xinjiang on 30 October.
