Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held an official telephone conversation on 29 June 2026 with the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

At the beginning of the conversation, the Uzbek leader warmly congratulated Berdimuhamedov on his birthday, expressing sincere wishes for strong health, well-being, and family happiness, while also wishing peace and prosperity to the brotherly people of Turkmenistan.

In turn, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty conveyed warm greetings to the Uzbek leader on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

During the dialogue, the sides highly praised the current level of bilateral strategic partnership, emphasizing the regular and productive nature of contacts across all levels of government administration.

They noted a steady increase in mutual trade volumes and the successful implementation of joint cooperation projects in the energy sector, industry, transport and logistics, and other key economic sectors. The interlocutors highlighted the operation of the Shavat-Dashoguz joint trade zone as a positive example of effective cross-border interaction.

The leaders also noted the dynamic expansion of interregional ties, contacts between business circles, and cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

Special attention was paid to the outcomes of the recent meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council held in Ashgabat, the results of which received a positive assessment from both leaders.

Furthermore, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov discussed in detail the coordination of joint actions and the advancement of the common regional agenda. In this context, a key topic of discussion was the preparation process for the eighth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, which is scheduled to take place in Turkmenistan in October 2026.
