Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia discussed regulatory cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector, including the registration and certification of medicines, the Pharmaceutical Product Safety Center said.

The Pharmaceutical Product Safety Center held a meeting with representatives of pharmaceutical companies from Saudi Arabia and India. The sides discussed procedures for the circulation of medicines in Uzbekistan, including state registration, registration under the recognition procedure, certification, document submission and expert assessment.

Specialists from the Center briefed representatives of the foreign companies on the current procedure for state registration of medicines in Uzbekistan.

The Saudi side expressed readiness to support further cooperation between the Pharmaceutical Product Safety Center and the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA).

Participants highlighted the importance of SFDA’s experience in further improving the Center’s operations in line with international standards. This includes work aimed at achieving World Health Organization ML3 maturity level in the future.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to continue practical cooperation, exchange experience and discuss emerging issues through working-level contacts.
