Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov met with a delegation from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) on 7 October, led by Hiroki Sekine, Senior Managing Executive Officer and Board Member of the bank. The Uzbek Ministry of Transport said.

The sides discussed further development of cooperation within projects being implemented in the transport sector.

Hiroki Sekine noted growing interest from the Japanese bank in participating in projects in Uzbekistan. According to him, over the next three years, JBIC plans to participate in financing 14 projects in the country, two of which are in the transport sector.

During the meeting, the participants reviewed in detail the current status of two projects — “Supply of Air Traffic Control Systems for the Needs of the State Unitary Enterprise Uzaeronavigation Centre” and “Construction of a New International Airport of Tashkent.”

Particular attention was paid to attracting JBIC financing for the implementation of the projects.

Following the talks, the sides agreed to accelerate the implementation of joint projects in the transport sector and continue mutually beneficial cooperation within promising initiatives.
