Uzbekistan and Saint Petersburg Boost Tourism Ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Cultural and business events under the “Days of Uzbekistan” were held in Saint Petersburg, where new directions of cooperation in tourism development between Uzbekistan and Russia were discussed.
The Uzbek delegation was led by Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee S. Tadjiev. During the visit, a presentation of Uzbekistan’s tourism potential was held with the participation of representatives of Saint Petersburg’s tourism industry, tour operators, hotel businesses, and investors.
The Uzbek side presented ongoing reforms in the tourism sector, new tourism products, and investment opportunities in the industry.
Special attention was given to expanding business ties, including B2B meetings where entrepreneurs from both countries established direct contacts for further cooperation.
The program also included a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of Saint Petersburg authorities and business organizations. Talks were held with Deputy Governor B. Piotrovsky, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region I. Kaynov, Chairman of the Tourism Development Committee E. Pankevich, Head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry department I. Karpenko, as well as representatives of companies such as Ostrovok, VKontakte, and Gazprom-Media Holding.
Following the meetings, the sides discussed prospects for further expanding cooperation in tourism, including promotion of Uzbekistan’s tourism potential and development of joint initiatives.
