Uzbekistan and Russia Discuss New Projects and Trade

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Russia discussed the implementation of joint projects in energy, geology, chemicals, transport, logistics, agriculture and construction. The issue was the main focus of a meeting between Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev and Russia’s Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Alexey Gruzdev, Khodjaev said on his LinkedIn page.

Khodjaev said the scale of bilateral cooperation requires continuous practical engagement and monitoring to ensure that agreements reached between the two countries translate into concrete results.

The two sides also paid particular attention to trade. Uzbekistan’s exports to Russia increased by 14.5%, which, according to Khodjaev, reflects sustained growth in bilateral trade ties.

The meeting also addressed preparations for the 27th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and the third meeting of the Council of Regions. The meetings are proposed to be held in October.

The sides also discussed a series of reciprocal business missions between regions of Uzbekistan and Russia. Such events are expected to support further development of practical cooperation at the regional level.

Khodjaev said work would continue along two main tracks: advancing projects that have already been agreed and identifying new areas of practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia.
