Uzbekistan and Qatar to Launch Major Projects in Seven Key Sectors
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov conducted a series of large-scale negotiations with government members, heads of state agencies, and top management of leading Qatar holdings during a working visit to Doha.
The main purpose of the meetings was to agree on practical mechanisms for expanding investment, trade, and economic cooperation between the two countries.
As part of the government track, the head of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan held meetings with the Minister of State for Commerce and Industry of Qatar Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed and the Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al-Attiyah. In addition, productive negotiations took place with the heads of key financial and industrial institutions of the country, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Faisal Al Thani of the Free Zones Authority, Fahad Al-Sulaiti of the Qatar Fund for Development, Mohammed Saif Al-Suwaidi of the Qatar Investment Authority, Abdulrahman bin Hisham Al-Suwaidi of the Development Bank, and Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Jabor Al Thani, who heads the Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company.
Following the meetings with representatives of major Qatari businesses, firm agreements were reached on the launch of new joint projects.
The investments will be directed into seven strategic sectors of the economy of Uzbekistan: transport infrastructure, education, logistics, the chemical industry, energy, agriculture, and the tourism industry.
For the rapid development of bilateral roadmaps and control over the timely transition of initiatives into the practical phase, personally responsible managers have been assigned to each area.
