Uzbekistan and Philippines Agree on Competition Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting between the Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Competition and Consumer Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Halilillo Turakhujayev, and the Chairman of the Philippine Competition Commission, Michael G. Aguinaldo, took place in Manila during the 25th Annual Conference of the International Competition Network (ICN Annual Conference 2026).
The sides discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in competition policy and strengthening the institutional capacity of antimonopoly authorities. Particular attention was paid to potential joint projects expected to be implemented in the near future.
During the talks, the parties considered issues of experience sharing in the regulation of digital markets, public procurement systems, and the introduction of modern competition policy tools. As a result, both sides agreed to prepare and sign a bilateral cooperation memorandum.
The meeting also highlighted mutual interest in expanding international cooperation and continuing practical dialogue between the two agencies.
Halilillo Turakhujayev invited representatives of the Philippine Competition Commission to participate in an international conference scheduled to take place in Tashkent on 16–17 June.
During the conference, Committee representative B. Yusupjanov spoke at a session dedicated to international cooperation and improving enforcement effectiveness.
He presented Uzbekistan’s experience in competition policy and outlined the implementation of digital solutions, including the use of artificial intelligence technologies in public procurement processes.
