Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan Sign Pension Security Agreement

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan signed an agreement on state social insurance and pension security on 30 July 2026 in Cholpon-Ata during a high-level meeting.

The agreement is aimed at protecting the pension rights of citizens who worked in either country, as well as developing bilateral cooperation in pension security.

The document provides that each state will independently grant and pay pensions for employment (insurance) record accumulated on its territory.

The amount of pension payments will be determined in accordance with the national legislation of each country, taking into account length of service, salary levels, or paid insurance contributions accumulated in its territory.

In addition, the agreement guarantees the preservation of the right to receive a pension granted by one party if the pensioner moves to the other state for permanent residence.

The document also establishes equal rights for citizens of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan regarding pension security, while regulating burial allowance payments, medical and social expertise procedures, personal data protection, and information exchange between authorized bodies.

Transitional provisions state that work history accumulated prior to the agreement's entry into force will be recognized in accordance with the national legislation of the parties, as well as the CIS Agreement dated 13 March 1992.

The implementation of the agreement is expected to secure the pension rights of citizens who worked in both countries, strengthen their social protection, and ensure a fair distribution of obligations between the pension systems of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
