Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s insurance market collected 8.019 trillion soums in insurance premiums in the first half of 2026, up 28.6% from 6.235 trillion soums in the same period a year earlier, the National Agency for Perspective Projects (NAPP) said.
The number of insurance organizations operating in the market rose to 35 from 34 over the year, while the number of life insurance companies increased to seven from six. The combined authorized capital of insurers grew by 37.2% to 4.293 trillion soums.
The number of insurance agents increased by 14.8%, from 3,442 to 3,951. At the same time, the number of legal-entity agents fell by 16.6% to 1,188.
The number of insurance brokers declined from 11 to 10, while the number of actuaries remained unchanged at seven. The number of insurance organizations participating in the Insurance Payments Guarantee Fund also remained unchanged at 25.
The general insurance sector continued to make the largest contribution to premium growth, with collections rising by 28.1% to 7.495 trillion soums. Life insurance premiums increased by 36.6% to 524.8 billion soums.
Voluntary insurance excluding life insurance accounted for about 83% of total premiums, compulsory insurance for around 11% and life insurance for approximately 7%.
Total insurance payouts across the market increased by 80.9% to 2.253 trillion soums. In general insurance, payouts rose by 82.6% to 2.156 trillion soums, including 1.930 trillion soums in voluntary insurance payouts, up 97.1%. Life insurance payouts increased by 49.8% to 96.6 billion soums.
The combined insurance liabilities of market participants grew by 48.2% to 4.415 trillion soums. The sharpest increase was recorded in life insurance, where liabilities rose more than 34-fold, from 13.3 billion to 460.5 billion soums.
Almost all of this increase was generated by Apex Life Insurance, whose liabilities rose from 9.6 billion to 455.0 billion soums. The company accounted for approximately 99.6% of the increase in life insurance sector liabilities and held around 98.8% of all liabilities in the segment at the end of the first half.
The total investments of insurance organizations increased by 28.8% year on year to 10.740 trillion soums. Bank deposits accounted for a growing share of the investment portfolio, rising from 60.9% to 65.1%, or 6.991 trillion soums. The share of securities fell from 16.7% to 14.2%, while real estate declined from 18.7% to 16.5%. The share of other investments increased from 1.9% to 3.1%.
Apex Insurance JSC remained the leader in the general insurance sector by net insurance premiums, with 1.524 trillion soums, representing a 41.2% increase from the first half of 2025.
In the life insurance segment, Apex Life Insurance JSC led the market with net premiums of 380.9 billion soums, up 53.4% from a year earlier.
