Uzbekistan and Korea to Strengthen Elevator Manufacturing Ties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Bakhtiyor Khaidarov, Director of the Agency for the Development of Industrial Cooperation and State Procurement of Uzbekistan, held a meeting on 18 June 2026 with representatives of leading organizations from the Republic of Korea working in the elevator manufacturing sector within the framework of the Fifth Tashkent International Investment Forum.

The President of Korea Elevator University, faculty representatives, and the Chairman of the Korea Elevator Safety Foundation took part in the negotiations. The parties discussed the development of the elevator industry, technology transfer, and the training of qualified specialists.

Special attention was paid to initiatives involving the creation of a specialized training center, the organization of local assembly for elevator control panels, the implementation of a "Train the Trainer" program, and the launch of internship and specialist certification programs between the two countries.

The cooperation is developing against the backdrop of a growing demand for elevator equipment in Uzbekistan. In 2025, 3,009 elevators were supplied to the market, while the requirement for new high-rise residential construction exceeds 5,000 units per year. This gap is expected to potentially widen in subsequent years.

Following the meeting, two memoranda were signed: one between the Agency and Korea Elevator University, and another between the Agency and the Korea Elevator Safety Foundation.

The agreements are set for a term of three years and are aimed at establishing an institutional foundation for expanding local production, training personnel, and accelerating the technological development of the industry in Uzbekistan.
