Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A delegation from Uzbekistan’s Uzatom Agency met Belarusian Energy Minister Denis Moroz in Minsk on 27 October to discuss the involvement of Belarusian enterprises in Uzbekistan’s integrated nuclear power plant project, as well as the localisation of energy equipment and the development of industrial cooperation.

The talks took place during a working visit by the Uzbek delegation to Belarus. The sides discussed prospects for cooperation in nuclear energy and opportunities to involve Belarusian specialists and enterprises in implementing Uzbekistan’s national nuclear energy programme.

Belarus is also providing practical assistance in selecting qualified personnel for the construction of the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure.

According to Moroz, transformer equipment production is one promising area of cooperation. The Belarusian side is ready to explore possible collaboration between the V. I. Kozlov Minsk Electrotechnical Plant, Uzatom and Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom.

The minister also highlighted opportunities to expand industrial cooperation, including equipment supplies and the establishment of joint production facilities.

Azim Akhmedkhadjaev, director of Uzatom, emphasised the importance of working with partners that have the expertise required to implement the nuclear power plant project. Further joint efforts should strengthen the partnership and deliver practical results, he said.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to continue exchanging proposals on specific areas of cooperation and identify projects for further joint consideration.
