Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan plans to localise production of modern tractors and agricultural machinery and launch manufacturing of agricultural drones at the recently opened FM World plant in Kashkadarya Region.

The task was set by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a meeting on the region’s socioeconomic development, the presidential press secretary reported.

The president also emphasised the need to build supply and production chains around major industrial enterprises in the region. Six industrial clusters are to be established by the end of the year in Guzar, Shurtan, Mubarek, Dehkanabad and Nishan.

Branches of the Kashkadarya Free Economic Zone will be established in Shurtan, Mubarek, Yakkabag and Kasan districts. A total of 250 billion soums will be allocated for their infrastructure at the initial stage.

Mirziyoyev also addressed projects discussed at the first meeting of the Investors’ Council in the fuel and energy sector held last week.

Masdar plans to commission a 300 MW solar power plant and a 75 MW energy storage system in Kashkadarya in 2027. The project is valued at US$250 million.

Construction of a 45 MW waste-to-energy plant in Karshi District, involving Chinese investors, is nearing completion.

A further US$70 million will be allocated to build major substations in Nishan and Kukdala districts to strengthen the region’s electricity grid.

Another US$150 million will be directed towards the 245-kilometre Talimarjan–Sogdiana power transmission line.

The president instructed officials to commission all these facilities next year.
