Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Karshi State University on 22 October to review teaching and research facilities following a major renovation.

The university has more than 14,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students and employs 579 teachers.

It offers full-time, part-time and distance learning programmes. To improve the quality of education, its curricula are being aligned with international standards. Programmes in English philology, mathematics, applied mathematics and physics have received international accreditation. The university also runs 14 educational programmes jointly with universities in Russia and Belarus.

The Faculty of Languages has a modern media studio with seating for 1,000 people, as well as centres for Chinese, German, French, English and Russian. The university also trains simultaneous interpreters through international programmes.

The International Laboratory Centre, which brings together seven laboratories, conducts research in artificial intelligence, machine learning and robotics.

Large-scale construction and renovation work was carried out at the university last year. Three new student dormitories were built, providing more than 1,300 additional places and fully meeting demand for student accommodation.

The university campus also has a 240-place kindergarten, a library, canteens, a youth centre and a conference hall. A modern training pitch has been built for Lochin, the football team established at the university.

During his visit, Mirziyoyev also reviewed the operations of the student service centre.

After visiting the university, the president concluded his trip to Kashkadarya Region and returned to Tashkent.
