Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has reviewed operations at Wosune Food Ingredients Karshi, a plant located in the Kashkadarya Free Economic Zone.
The facility specialises in the deep processing of locally grown fruits and vegetables, producing higher-value ingredients for domestic and international markets.
The US$8.5 million project was implemented with investment from US-based Wosune International Inc. The plant has created 150 permanent jobs.
Its production focuses on drying carrots, bell peppers, pumpkins, apples, green onions, spinach and other leafy greens.
The plant uses convection drying equipment designed to preserve the natural flavour and nutritional properties of raw materials. Around 30% of its production processes are automated using robotics.
The finished ingredients are supplied to manufacturers of instant foods, spices, canned goods and cosmetics.
The company exports its products to Russia, European countries and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) markets.
Wosune International plans to increase annual exports to US$40 million. To secure a stable supply of raw materials, the company intends to establish direct partnerships with farms in Kashkadarya Region.
During his visit, Mirziyoyev inspected the production process and the plant’s finished products.
