Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture Ibrahim Abdurakhmonov met with executives of Italian company Planet Farms at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Rome.

The sides discussed opportunities to implement joint investment projects, introduce modern agricultural technologies and improve the efficiency of water and land use.

One proposal put forward by the company was to establish a modern Smart Greenhouse complex in Uzbekistan. The project would also create an integrated production chain covering the sorting, packaging and delivery of finished agricultural products.

Planet Farms’ technologies are designed to use water and land more efficiently while reducing fertiliser consumption.

According to the company, the technologies make it possible to grow high-quality produce without using pesticides or herbicides.

The participants also considered opportunities to automate production processes and combine cultivation and packaging operations within a single complex.

Following the talks, both sides expressed interest in further cooperation on developing modern greenhouse facilities, integrating production processes and implementing promising investment projects.
