Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan is considering launching block train services on three international routes connecting Tashkent with Mersin, Riga and Baghdad as part of efforts to improve freight logistics and facilitate international trade.

The proposal was discussed during a meeting between Davron Vakhabov, Chairman of Uzbekistan's Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Zufar Narzullayev, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Railways.

The discussions focused on simplifying export and import procedures for businesses, improving freight transportation logistics and developing international railway connections.

The two officials also examined the possibility of integrating the proposed routes into a single logistics mechanism.

Such an arrangement is expected to help establish more resilient supply chains for businesses, improve freight transportation efficiency and expand opportunities for Uzbek companies in international markets.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue working together to address challenges faced by businesses in the transport and logistics sector.

They also plan to strengthen cooperation between their organizations and focus on creating more favorable conditions for business operations.
